Gord obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Sciences 9Hons Program)from Trent University in 1974 and a L.L.B. at the University of Ottawa in 1978. He articled in Edmonton and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1979 and the B.C. Bar in 1991.

For the past several years, Gord has concentrated his practice on family law. He also handles real estate.
